videos,you are such a fantastic singer,wish you
all the best for a speedy recovery.xx. |
Jim Diamond - 2-Sep-2010 16:11:49: Title Hi
I'm pleased to say that Jim is on the way to being completely recovered although the process is slow. Thanks for your concern.
All the best, Chrissie |
its you - 28-Aug-2010 10:40:51: how is jim? chris, could you let us know how jim is? I`m
not on facebook,i think his official site is
much better. We hope he is recovering, there`s not that many singer/sonwriters of his calibre
around. |
videoman - 15-Aug-2010 20:47:43: Facebook Page Can't seem to find Jim's facebook page.... any pointers? |
its you - 7-Aug-2010 19:41:58: ph.D. ph.D.three is a musical extravagance, superb album, jim`s singing is the best ever and the music and songwriting quality is absolutely brilliant. How does he do it? |
its you - 4-Aug-2010 19:40:23: thankyou. thanks,aileen,i will check facebook out.peace to all. |
Aileen - 2-Aug-2010 23:28:34: Title Hello, its you. I'm not sure that Jim is reading this just now. If you go to Facebook and Jim's page, you can send your good wishes to him. |
its you - 31-Jul-2010 21:01:08: take it easy. jim, take it easy,we need you in tip/top shape for great things to come in the future.just seen the new footage on you tube from italy,fantastic-nuff said. |
Aileen - 26-Jul-2010 20:01:23: Title Jim is unwell, at the moment. |
its you - 25-Jul-2010 11:09:06: jim`s the best. what a fantastic songwriter jim is,just put on souled & healed, brilliant album from start to finish, jim,we need to hear you live,as your voice live is superb, whats the chance of setting up the barnes gig again, with the great band you had last time? |
usfan - 22-May-2010 21:57:20: Clean Up the City - 35 Years On I now have that early single! Now the next thing to get is the new album which should be out sometime in future. Finding more imports would be a plus, but a shop in the US (only indies) are more likely to have Marillion than Jim. I've spent a fortune on his records the past four years. Most of them are post-order because most Yanks wouldn't know Jim from Adam. |
usfan - 14-May-2010 19:13:27: Bacco I finally found me the one-off album "Cha Cha Me" frim Jim's one-time Japanese band Bacco. Now I just have to find "Clean Up the City" again and hope it will come in the post this time. If I find any other items in my price range, I'll get them, but they rarely turn up in the States. Still, I managed to get this item.
I guess Jim wasn't too wild about this that he had has it under rug swept for whatever reason. Only us diehard fans realise these records even exist and recognise them. |
its you - 30-Mar-2010 13:32:05: hello jim,chris & family. jim & co,give us a message,we are getting a bit twitchy not hearing from you. |
usfan - 28-Feb-2010 18:45:49: Clean Up the City My order of "Clean Up the City" fell through. It may have vanished in the mail. The shop did give me a refund. Something else I ordered from them came in the post just fine. It's not the first time an order overseas went awry on me. Thousand of miles can be a factor. I wonder if I could have insured it. I'll just remember in future to buy from somewhere a little more reputable. No brick and mortar in the States will have it, as Jim can't get arrested here (no offence). When I do find the record online, it's never cheap because it's obscure.
Do any of you have it? |
Jules - 23-Feb-2010 04:23:10: Farncombe gig Hi Jim
Just wanted to say a big thank you again to you and your wonderful musician friends for a wonderful evening's entertainment at Farncombe Music Club. I hope we can do it again sometime!!
|
Jules - 2-Feb-2010 01:33:11: Gig Hi its you and other fans of Jim - the gig in Farncombe is near Guildford in Surrey and so not far from London. It can be easily reached by cxr as it is just off the A3 and there is a mainline railway station at Farncombe which is just two minutes walk to the lovely church venue. Regular trains run on the line between London Waterloo and Portsmouth. So come along and bring your friends too for a superb night out with Jim and Ronnie. |
its you - 27-Jan-2010 20:07:14: gigs jim, please. jim,we know you`re big in europe, but we love you in england, please do some gigs in or around london, hope chris and family are all good, hope to see you again soon. |
Jim Diamond - 7-Jan-2010 20:52:27: Chrissie Jim's doing a one off gig at Farncombe Music Club in Farncombe (see gigs page) on February 12th. He'll be accompanied by Ronnie Johnstone on guitar.Happy New Year to one and all. |
usfan - 1-Jan-2010 19:27:12: Facebook Jim is now on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Jim-Diamond/219239590238?ref=ts&v=info
He's on the continent quite a bit, so some of the page is in Italian, as a lot of you fans are in mainland Europe. Jim seems to be more successful there than at home or the States for that matter.
He does go to the page everyday, so you can send him a message there, though we still need this board though.
Lots to look forward to in the New Year! |
usfan - 26-Dec-2009 14:37:01: Rare records I just ordered "Clean Up the City" from a shop in Llangolen, Denbighshire, Wales. Because of Boxing Day and New Years, it'll take a while to come to me in the States.
Has anyone ever heard of the Childwatch charity single "Shout It Out"? Is it just Jim, or is it an all-star roster like Rock Against Repatriation? Do need to know before I order it.
The Holy Grail for me now are Jim's early bands Slick Diamond and Bacco. People in the States say they heard of Jim through Slick Diamond, so an album must have materialised. Bacco were the Japanese band I mentioned earlier that Jim sang in back in the late '70s, that was found on YouTube. amazon.co.jp seem to have the record, but it'd be hard to order from there because of the language barrier, converting dollars to yen, and the staggering cost that ensues. Anyone have these albums then?
Hope everyone had a good holiday season. |
kev - 14-Dec-2009 13:45:27: kevin slater number one fan for nearly 30 years Hi jim,
Its kev once again lol, you know the one who wrote the book "Facing the Future" and my new book "Looking back in time" and CD of same tital, still want you to sing it? would suit your brilliant voice. WHEN ARE YOU COMING TO LIVERPOOL!!!!! or anywhere near my home town. |
usfan - 13-Dec-2009 03:44:21: Wikipedia If you look for Jim there, look for "Jim Diamond (singer)", It used to be "Jim Diamond (Scottish musician)", but one leads to the other.
PhD have a new manager I was told by the label. We'll see where s/he'll lead them.
I know things have been slow here lately. We've gotten used to dry spells. They used to be even longer, you know! Let's hope the new year brings new activity. |
kev - 1-Dec-2009 12:04:07: kevin slater Are you doing a gig in liverpool anytime? would love to hear you live, thanks for your email jim, kevin |
its you - 26-Nov-2009 20:06:54: hello jim, chris and family. what`s the latest jim,we want to see you live, your the bees knees, give us a message, jim,we have not heard from you in a while. |
usfan - 19-Nov-2009 00:13:15: Reissues Nigo, 'Double Crossed' was recently reissued on CD by Cherry Red Records. You can order it directly from them since I doubt Sanity or Big W would have it.
On that note, Ph.D's second album 'Is It Safe?' will be re-released by Voiceprint in the New Year. I'm waiting to hear back from them for more info. I'll pass it on when I get it. |
kev - 3-Nov-2009 18:27:21: This is america souled and healed CD,The song "This is america" should be in the top 10. I'm getting interviewed in january for my new book "Looking back in time" on CITYTALK 105.9 in Liverpool and im gonna make this my request. |
kev - 3-Nov-2009 18:21:51: souled and healed loved this CD, everything you sing you do it perfect, you helped me through my bad times, thank you. Kevin Slater author of "Facing the future". |
Gailyg - 25-Oct-2009 05:15:18: Double Crossed Nigo, I'm from Australia and I have just pruchased the CD. I also had the cassette tape. Double Crossed is my favourite album also. |
Nigo - 24-Oct-2009 00:02:22: Double crossed i have to say double crossed is may favourite album. Is it on CD as i had it on tape but have not been able to get it on CD yet? |
Gailyg - 21-Oct-2009 02:39:53: Lyrics Just got the Double Crossed CD. Have been waiting for this to come out for ages. Any chance of posting lyrics on your site? |
Nigo - 20-Oct-2009 00:53:49: Title Message |
Nigo - 20-Oct-2009 00:53:36: Gigs Any planned live outings this year now?? |
usfan - 13-Sep-2009 03:48:34: Post Aileen, if you can't trust the CDs to come in the post, maybe you can have them delivered by a courier or a private service for a few quid. Or maybe you can wait until you visit the UK again. I feel bad for you how they loot letter boxes and get away with it. That would never happen in my neighbourhood even on the worst day. Yes, there are a select few in the States who are fans. I'm letting the idea of these gift shops from the Highland Games stocking 'Sugarolly' go, since this is 2009, and people would rather download it anyway.
It says messages can be removed after a month, yet there's a whole log going back to early 2005. |
Aileen - 12-Aug-2009 23:48:48: Title Oh, it's the one I joined! Forgive me, for I am aged! |
Aileen - 12-Aug-2009 23:46:24: ? Ning site? What is that? |
Aileen - 12-Aug-2009 23:45:00: Clan I feel that 'Diamond' may not belong to a clan!
I understand your not wanting to own 'artificial'music! I like the real 'hold it in my hands' stuff, too! I ordered Jim's albums, to be delivered to the UK, as people steal our mail here. However, I forgot to bring it back with me. To be fair, my new granddaughter distracted me! A LOT! This may sound patronising (British spelling) but I am so proud that so many people from the USA appreciate Jim's music. When I saw the old photos of him, I was amazed at the hair! He used to have that! Then, I used to not look as though I needed a steam iron on my face.... |
usfan - 9-Aug-2009 00:27:45: Sugarolly Days I went to a Scottish Games festival in my area today. I couldn't find Jim's clan, nor did I come across his folk release 'Sugarolly Days'. Its the kind of album one could find at these tents. I ordered my copy on eBay, even though I could have waited for it to come on emusic, though I love my imports. One tent was run by a shop outside Chicago. Another was from Buffalo. I forgot the third one.
Anyone going to a show? Which town would be closer to an airport with flights from the States? If I had the money, I'd be there tomorrow! Because Jim isn't well known in my country, there's no chance of him doing a show here. We're in the same boat, Aileen!
Alan and I still need the lot of you to join the Ning site he made in Jims honour. |
Aileen - 4-Aug-2009 22:44:29: Bereft! Not many gigs here, in Lanzarote! |
its you - 13-Jul-2009 20:56:12: jim,where are you. hello jim,chris and family,hope everyone is great,any gig for london/suburbs coming up?we want to hear a class musician live,please jim,fit one in. |
Aileen - 6-Jul-2009 21:25:52: A little bit of heaven! Jim is choosing his 'Tracks of my Years' this week, on Ken Bruce's show on Radio 2! Happy, happy me! |
Aileen - 2-Jul-2009 23:05:34: Mm. This IS the official website! I knew that..... |
Aileen - 2-Jul-2009 23:04:23: Hugging it to me! I sent a message to Jim, on his official website and he replied! I sent another, as I am needy, and he replied again! I still have them and read them often! Ok, I'm very needy! |
Aileen - 2-Jul-2009 22:56:07: Long John Baldry No, usfan! LJB discovered Rod Stewart! He heard him, singing on a train, and thought that his voice was great! Poor LJB was sidelined, because he was gay, which mattered then, I suppose. Not to me but to some. I am so proud of Jim Diamond, as he hails from the same area as I do - not just Glasgow but the same AREA! Does that make me famous, too? Thought not..... |
usfan - 19-Jun-2009 23:31:18: Bandit 45 My copy of "Ohio" finally came in the post. Unfortunately, it was cracked when I opened it. After all my trouble! I tested it on my turntable and it will play. Fingers crossed! Next time I have the money, I will order "Clean Up the City" and have it come by Air Mail, and maybe insure it!
Best two out of three on Glasgow, Aileen!
I've heard of LJB. He discovered Elton John.
I snuck of a picture of a band once. No trouble though. Someone insists I do the same when I see Paul McCartney again!
We need more of you to join us on the Ning site. So far, only Aileen has.
Alan let me use his pictures of Jim and Snake on Wikipedia. One of them is also here. |
its you - 10-Jun-2009 16:53:43: what`s new, jim. hello jim, chris & family, are you doing any gigs around london this year?my son who is a big fan, would love to do a duet with you live, check him out on youtube, gary miller echoes,he can play a lot of your tracks,he would love to play rhythm or lead guitar for you. |
Aileen - 28-May-2009 21:24:35: Posh or what? I love how one of the other sites states that he was raised in 'Bridgetown'! Maybe you have to be from Glasgow's East End.............. |
Aileen - 16-May-2009 21:59:41: Long John Baldry I had always thought that Rod Stewart discovered the great talent that was LJB. However, it seems that it was Alexis Corner. Makes sense. Does anyone else remember Long Jon Baldry, vilified because he was a homosexual? I choose not to use the word 'gay'. |
Aileen - 16-May-2009 21:56:17: US fans You people from the USA are so much more 'daring' than we hesitant Brits! I've been to many, many concerts, gigs and would be too scared to video anyone! Still, if I still lived there, I'd be terrified that I may put the wrong rubbish in my bin and go to jail! |
Aileen - 16-May-2009 21:53:25: Bunions? When I click on the links on this site, I get lots of information about foot problems! |
its you - 15-May-2009 19:31:54: great album jim,how come you are singing even better nowadays?most singers voices go down hill a bit after a few years, but you are singing better, any london/south gigs coming up? |
Alessandra - 12-May-2009 07:05:25: Att. Jim Jim I love you very, very nice meeting you. I am the brasil.Já came here?
kisses
Alessandra |
Aileen - 11-May-2009 23:11:34: Frankie Miller Does anyone else love Frankie - also from Glasgow? |
Aileen - 11-May-2009 23:10:27: UK No, the UK isn't always cold and damp - just when we go back! It's ok to live here - the people are friendly and the weather is good. The downside is that I can't get any music! I have a bundle awaiting me, when I go back for the birth of my fourth grandchild! |
usfan - 11-May-2009 02:21:39: For Aileen Guess the Canary Islands are a great place to visit, but I wouldn't wanna live there! I know Britain's not always cold and damp!
I ordered Bandit's first single "Ohio". It has a rare B-side, "All I Can Do is Get Over It". Try and find it! It's not cheap, you know! |
Aileen - 10-May-2009 00:10:09: Hello, usfan A PO Box? Here? They steal from those as well! I've ordered the cd's and they await me, for when I return to the Uk. To the cold and damp UK! |
usfan - 6-May-2009 00:56:38: Live video No real live video of Jim exists. The next time any of you lot go to a show, why not film it if it's allowed? I just managed to get the Shed album. Jim has just as much experience on the road as in the studio like everyone else.
Aileen, you should get a P.O. Box at the local post office! |
Aileen - 1-May-2009 21:57:39: To It's me Sorry, I didn't see your message until now - won't bore you with the problems we have here! Yes, I'm from the East End of Glasgow and proud of it! I now live in Lanzarote, where we see no one performing, apart from Canarian dancers, who are fairly unimpressive. I'd love to see Jim live but can't even buy his cd, as people steal our mail. Yes, really! I did live in the London area for many years, well, Surrey, actually, which is as close as I wanted to be. Seriously, I could hate you for seeing Jim, as I know he'd be great live! |
Aileen - 1-May-2009 21:05:16: Radio 2! Radio2 played, "I won't let you down" today! Was it me? Did they listen? Do they care? Do they Wheech! |
usfan - 23-Apr-2009 19:42:39: Fan site on Ning I made a fan site for Ph.D., and now there's one for solo, thanks to Alan. Join us at jimdiamondfans.ning.com today. |
usfan - 16-Apr-2009 20:24:17: PhD on MySpace PhD are now on MySpace at myspace.com/phdworld
I feel your pain, Aileen! |
Aileen - 12-Apr-2009 23:22:36: Radio 2 I tried to contact radio two, through their website, to request a playing of Jim's and others' records. It just died on me - six times! I feel that they really don't want to know what we want to hear! |
Aileen - 12-Apr-2009 23:20:04: Living abroad! I am so envious of those who can see Jim live! I can't even buy cd's of him here! Still, I look forward to returning to the UK, where the cd's await me! |
JimsNumber1Fan - 10-Apr-2009 14:51:20: Jim Hi all! I keep forgetting my passwords, so had to create a new account here. I hope you are well Jim, Chris and family. Conrats on the 'Three' album and the reissue of 'Double Crossed.'!
Take care,
Love,
Alan |
Jim Diamond - 30-Mar-2009 23:37:06: Title Hi, sorry I haven't posted any messages for a while. Been busy! Jim has just released a new PHD album titled PHD Three. It is available from amazon.co.uk and voiceprint.co.uk
Chrissie |
usfan - 22-Mar-2009 16:54:52: Live at the Shed CD Me again! I know many of you got to see Jim live. Might not happen in the States. At the shows, he had an exclusive CD of a show he did at The Shed. If any of you have it, please e-mail me (scroll down). I'm also on Twitter and Facebook. Or maybe have it for sale here. Thanks. |
usfan - 11-Mar-2009 16:52:17: Double Crossed Good news everyone! (In the words of Professor Farnsworth!) Jim's first solo album, 'Double Crossed' will be reissued 23/3 by Cherry Pop/Cherry Red Records. This'll make it easier to get now. Do support indie labels and artistes and buy directly from them. |
usfan - 3-Mar-2009 23:21:31: Wikipedia Does anyone have any original photos of Jim? How about one with Tony Hymas? I need them for Wikipedia and my site. I asked him myself. You can upload them yourselves or send them to me. Site and contact info in earlier posts. |
usfan - 27-Feb-2009 04:43:56: Drivetime The new PhD video is live on YouTube! I think you're going to like it. The video for "I Didn't Know" from 'Is It Safe?' filmed at an Italian music festival has been pulled, as the site and labels are cracking down on unauthorised videos. Official solo '80s Jim videos from A&M/Universal are there. |
dredge - 6-Feb-2009 16:20:48: Titledredge Message hi jim will you be touring in the north of england 2009 dave and family |
usfan - 5-Feb-2009 04:52:14: Ph.D. - Three The long-awaited real comeback of the year is finally here! Order 'Three' directly from Voiceprint or many online and EU brick-and-mortar shops today!
"Its you", 'Is It Safe?' and any loose tracks will be reissued sometime in future. Do stay tuned. The label want to focus on the new record doing the business at this time. Thanks for asking.
Someone on the continent slated the reissue of the 1981 LP. I won't put what he said here. Let's just say that everyone's a critic! |
its you - 13-Jan-2009 21:42:21: new album nice to hear you on the james whale show, can`t wait for the new album, are the other ph.d albums going to be reissued?have a great year, jim, chris and family. |

usfan - 6-Nov-2008 12:43:01: Title The debut album is now available. Do buy directly from Voiceprint. 'Is It Safe?' will be reissued sometime next year. Maybe we'll get bonus tracks this time. Also the new album in February! |
Nigo - 4-Oct-2008 01:00:53: Gigs Any news on any new messages. Any chance of anything around glasgow later next week as I am there for a few days? |
JimsNumber1Fan - 3-Oct-2008 15:07:21: Ph.D Hello Jim, I hope you are well. I am looking forward to the release of the new Ph.D album, I already know it will be great. Your material is Always fantastic! Congratulations on the reissue of the first Ph.D album! Love to you and your family. Your friend, Alan |
usfan - 1-Oct-2008 22:57:22: The latest I got a response from Rob Ayling at Voiceprint, and he says that Jim's focused on Ph.D. right now. Some people can juggle two things, but Jim does one at a time.
Keep older messages here since they track the development of events in Jim's career and the fan community. The rest of you lot should stop by more often. I can't do all the posting! |
usfan - 28-Sep-2008 19:13:04: 1993 album JD2 is now available from The Disc Kiosk, specialising in made to order CDs. I suggested they reissue "Double Crossed" and "Desire for Freedom". I'll ask Voiceprint to reissue some other JD-related albums. |
usfan - 27-Sep-2008 01:58:51: Ph.D. (1981) The long wait is over, friends! Ph.D.'s first album will finally be re-released in early November on Ph.D./Voiceprint Records. It should have had bonus tracks, but maybe they'll be on 'Is It Safe?' instead. I helped get this off the ground, thanks to my fan site. I seem to update this site more than Mike does. |
usfan - 25-Sep-2008 02:04:00: Solo videos The official videos for "I Should have Known Better" and "I Sleep Alone at Night" from "Double Crossed" are on YouTube. Other videos are there as well. |
usfan - 11-Sep-2008 23:18:43: three - - I guess that's the name of the new Ph.D. album. It was on Tony Hymas's site. |
usfan - 7-Aug-2008 15:54:01: Ph.D. CDs Long-awaited Ph.D. reissues and new album coming soon from Voiceprint! |
Makiky - 18-Jul-2008 23:15:31: A Cuban doctor fan ! hi jim, i've been a huge fan of yours since i lived on the other side of the atlantic eventhough your music didn't sound that much over there but your unique style impacted me. it still does today when i'm living and working in europe (sweden) for several years now. enormously nice surprise to find your web site. i didn't know about your latest album “souled...” but i've just ordered it and hope it will arrive soon and surely leave me breathless as usual...keep up your truly astonishing work ! |
Nigo - 24-Jun-2008 23:34:41: Title Been a fan of your music for years - cant believe I have only just found your web site - brilliant to see it - cant make the guildfest but hope you have more gigs soon |

usfan - 18-May-2008 02:19:57: Ph.D. cover I just heard from the son of the artist who did the original cover of the first Ph.D. album. He needs a new copy for his ill dad. |
usfan - 7-May-2008 01:00:09: 1988 album Just got a better copy of the Teldec album. "The Last Time" skipped on my old one, and it sounds cleaner. This album deserves an official reissue with bonus tracks, as does almost any album Jim has done in the past 33 years. |
Peter Coia - 26-Apr-2008 19:01:10: Hi Jim Hi Jim,
Lots of people asking about you on 'MySpace', so I will direct them here.
By the way, your site is looking great!
Regards,
Peter |
usfan - 17-Apr-2008 05:19:13: A ray of hope Rob Ayling, founder and head of leading indie label Voiceprint, asked me for info on finding Ph.D. He found my fan site on Google. I would think someone in his position would be able to gain access to the masters. Then again, it could just be for him. I'll have to hear back from him. This could mean he'll reissue the albums if Warner don't. |
its you - 15-Apr-2008 22:00:52: to jim and co. jim, how`s the new album going. |
its you - 13-Apr-2008 11:48:46: sorry aileen sorry aileen,i thought you were from the east end of london,i forgot about the east end of glasgow, how are you doing?leave us a message. |

its you - 19-Mar-2008 17:35:30: in and around london hello jim and co,are you doing any gigs in or around london soon? |
usfan - 3-Mar-2008 16:23:40: Bacco I was just told about a disco band in Japan called Bacco, which Jim was vocalist in the late '70s between Alexis Korner and Earl Slick. They had an album called "Cha Cha Me". If anyone has it, please tell me. |
usfan - 1-Mar-2008 01:37:32: Interviews The most recent interview of Jim was on chatshow.net, which went 404 and won't work on archive.org. The only other one is on YouTube in promotion of "Sugarolly Days". When the new album's out, I hope there'll be an interview for that. |
usfan - 28-Feb-2008 03:03:45: Bandit MSN just lists the album. You can't download it. I did see it on a blog, though. |
usfan - 28-Feb-2008 02:59:44: Ph.D site Now the site is 110% complete! It's really practise for a site I have to do for class. Hope everyone goes to see it. |
usfan - 27-Feb-2008 05:36:42: Ph.D site I have the first page done. The others will follow. Visit www.phdmusic.co.nr. |
usfan - 27-Feb-2008 04:22:26: Ph.D "Turban crumb", I think you meant MSN. I'll have to look there. I bought a promo LP on eBay and copied it onto mp3.
Only one or two people responded to this site for my online discussion. What are you gonna do?!
My PhD site is almost done! Just be patient. At least it's confirmed we're getting a new album after 25 years! Maybe there'll be an official site for that! If it's an indie release, I can go to emusic. |
Flo - 24-Feb-2008 12:48:53: TitleNew gigs Message
Great to see some new dates on your website - look forward to seeing you again - you're still the best! |
turban crumb - 22-Feb-2008 15:58:22: Bandit An early album by Jim available as on MSM as a dowload. Band Bandit; Album title Bandit; Year 1978. |
Jim Diamond - 19-Feb-2008 20:32:21: From Jim Hi
I've been meaning to post a message for a while now but I've been really busy writing and recording a new PhD album. I know it's late but I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year and a big thank you for all the fantastic emails that you send me. Take care and stay safe, Jim |
usfan - 18-Feb-2008 18:24:14: This site In my class, we're critiquing sites on how they're done in an online discussion. I chose this one. I would lead others in class here and maybe they'd discover Jim's music (most of the class are young and might not go for this kind of music). We're also in the US, where Jim hasn't really ever been much of a household name per se. |
usfan - 29-Jan-2008 17:43:06: PhD site I'm in a computer class at college, and we may have to make a site, so I'ma make one on PhD. I'll put a link when it's done. |
Gr - 8-Jan-2008 17:21:26: Paul Jones Evening Jim, Just to say that we really enjoyed your spot on the Paul Jones & Guests on the 22nd December |

its you - 21-Dec-2007 19:57:33: have a great time. hello jim and family, hope you all have a great time over xmas, jim, your the best, keep rocking. |
usfan - 17-Dec-2007 02:41:17: New Ph.D album I just heard that the long-awaited new album will be out in March or April. It's been 25 years since "Is It Safe?". It must be on an indie label. Then I can go to emusic, where I got "Souled and Healed". |
its you - 20-Nov-2007 18:23:48: birthday greetings and hello jim & family, looking forward to your gig after xmas, you look great on youtube, but better in real life, you are one of the very best singer/songwriters ever, can we have more of your songs at the gig, like,a million miles or,if your gonna break my heart, your songs are classics. |
usfan - 6-Nov-2007 00:49:19: Jim on MySpace Since there's not a link, I'ma put one. Visit myspace.com/jimdiamondmusic . Even he's gotta get with the times! |
usfan - 20-Oct-2007 12:10:21: Clean Up the City Another holy grail for me to get is the above 1976 one-off single. One dealer has it for £6+P&H. Do any of you have this "Diamond in the Rough"? It doesn't have to be for sale, but if it is, e-mail me at sposato@inMail24.com . Thanks. |
usfan - 19-Oct-2007 01:30:52: Bandit Bandit was the band that had Jim, AC/DC's Cliff Williams, Kate Bush's husband Danny McIntosh, James Litherland, and Roger Waters's drummer Graham Broad. Now I have to get the 45 of "Ohio" for the B-side. It could be a bonus track if there's ever an official CD/mp3 release. |
usfan - 29-Sep-2007 20:59:49: Sugarolly Days There isn't anything here on Jim's 1994 CD of Scottish folk and folk-style songs. It's available from River Records. I have the original on Righteous (not Babe) Records. |
Houston - 24-Sep-2007 18:01:20: Gigs Hey ya Jim,
Your gigs page is appearing very barren. Do you have any gigs near the Harrow area in the near future? |
charlie356 - 13-Sep-2007 21:32:30: hi jim hello Jim, i,m an 35 year old woman and i want to say... i never forgot your music!

your voice is so sensitive and beautiful.
it breaks my heart... if i hear this song i think of my son, when i wasnt that nice to him.. he is 6 years old so i think when i was a litlle amd at him standing at his bed when he sleeps... i should have know better... thank you so very much you have a lot of love in you!

its you - 7-Sep-2007 13:11:55: hi,jim & family. hello jim, have you got any live dates coming up before xmas in or around london, still remember how great you were in the bulls head in barnes,i still have some albums i would like to get signed, would be nice to meet you again. |
usfan - 3-Sep-2007 03:20:46: Little Suzi live Tesla played it and did not disappoint. They called it an "oldie" for the "die-hard" fans (theirs, anyway!). Still, it's a different animal from the original. I wonder what made them do it. |
usfan - 2-Sep-2007 19:35:28: Little Suzi "Little Suzi's on the Up" was Ph.D's second single. In the US, Sacramento-based hard-rock band Tesla made it their own in 1986. They'll be at the NYS Fair tonight and I'ma make sure they play it. |
usfan - 30-Aug-2007 14:39:19: Jim Diamond (1993) There's nothing here on the 1993 album. I bought the tape to save money. It's also OOP even though it got to #16 on the UK Albums chart. It has three new versions of songs we all know and love! |
usfan - 29-Aug-2007 01:13:51: Ph.D, or is it? The first self-titled LP came in from Germany. Tony Hymas is on most tracks and co-wrote and produced two, so it's practically Ph.D, isn't it? |
Holger - 29-Jul-2007 21:23:10: Found your CD Hi I'm Holger from Frankfurt. First heard your voice on the Tony Banks song "You call this victory" several years ago. Now I've found the 'souled and healed' CD in a record shop and I must say I'm impressed from your authentic voice and songs.
Wish you all the best,
Maybe you come to Germany one day. |

Jims Number 1 Fan - 5-Jul-2005 14:36:07: I Won't Let You Down Tamarin, not sure if Jim has ever recorded anything in French. But that reminds me of a German language version of I Won't Let You Down that I heard many years ago. Does anyone remember who recorded it? |
tamarin - 4-Jul-2005 22:31:06: French Songs? Has Jim ever recorded anything in French? Have just returned from a holiday in France and whilst we were there the local supermarket were playing a CD that sounded incredibly like Jim.
Don't suppose it was Jim but does anyone know if he has recorded anything in French? |
old pal - 4-Jul-2005 16:12:08: Title Alnwick Gig Message for Jim: Celtic 7 Rangers 1 was a long time ago.

Jims Number 1 Fan - 2-Jul-2005 21:47:00: Ph.D Hi Mike C. As far as I know it isn't available anymore. I myself have been searching for that album too, but have had no luck. Only thing I can think of is trying record stores that specialise in older records and LPs' from that era. There are some around in some places.
Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

grazza - 8-May-2005 01:22:14: Title Sugarolly Days was released in 1994 by Righteous Recording Company LTD. Catalog# JDACD1. Where should i send the album image? |
WebMaster - 7-May-2005 11:01:58: Reply to Grazza 'Cos I didn't know about it! IF you can supply a picture and any other details, I'll add it! Cheers, Mike |
grazza - 7-May-2005 02:58:54: Title Just a quick question. Why is Sugarolly Days not included in the discography? |
Günter - 5-May-2005 19:20:33: Concert 06_March-2005 Hi Jim,
it's Günter from EARTH-MUSIC Germany. Thank you Jim for that great concert in our hall. Hope to see you soon again. All the best to you and the band! |
Jim - 27-Apr-2005 17:19:56: Title Newcastle City Hall Message I and several friends were at Newcastle City Hall on Saturday 23rd April 2005 to see Booker T & The MG's. Jim Diamond and his band were the support, but we did not know what to expect. Wow! the set was incredible, that man has one amazing voice. We loved the new songs and the old ones which we certainly recognised. The band were first rate. Booker T was as brilliant as we expected to all-in-all that was one sensational FIVE STAR show. We will be looking out for Jim Diamond in the future. |
tamarin - 16-Apr-2005 19:45:24: Message to Charles Fan You could have bought Jim's new CD at The Hat Factory on Saturday and he would have gladly signed it for you.
Stayed behind after the show and had a chat with Jim - what a lovely feller he is!
My wife said she has now been kissed by two great men, Ray Davies (of The Kinks) and Jim Diamond! She could say three and include me - oh well! |
Number 1 Jim Fan - 13-Apr-2005 22:48:10: Agree I most certainly agree with you guys! I have been Jim Diamond's Number 1 Fan since I was 5 years old. Have met him numerous times and he is the greatest person I have ever met, he is kind, thoughtful, and most certainly a genius. His writing and his songs have helped me very much over the years with many things in many ways, and he inspired me to become a singer/songwriter. I now have my foot in the door and am about to release my first CD and it is all thanks to Jim for giving me the inspiration and being my greatest influence over the years. What a man. God Bless You Jim, You Are The Best! |
Alice S - 13-Apr-2005 19:22:34: Title Couldn't agree more with the last post. Heard blues shoes on wogan on radio 2 a couple of time so emailed to ask for it again. Perhaps the whole board should get on it and email the Djs and tell them what they're missing. the address is www.bbc.co.uk/radio2 i've tryed my local radio too. hey it's worth a go isn't it?
Alice |
Charles Fan - 13-Apr-2005 17:21:48: Blown Away I'm a first time visitor to the site, saw Jim at the hat factory in Luton on Saturday and went out and bought the album on monday. It was the first time i've ever seen him, and I just couldn't believe it. This mans voice is so full of emotion i ended up with tears running down my eyes. The Album is absolutely brilliant!! The thing i can't understand is why we don't see and hear Jim more often on teh radio. This is an injustice! As i have seen most of what they call the great singers and he leaves them all in his wake. I've already emailed Johnny Walker on Radio 2, maybe its time us Jim fans started putting some pressure on these stations, we need to hear more of him, he's a genius.
GET ON IT, cheers Charles |
tester - 13-Apr-2005 09:10:26: test Message |
tamarin - 10-Apr-2005 20:21:37: The Hat Factory Saw Jim and Snake at the Hat Factory in Luton last night (Saturday 9/4) First time I've seen them - absolutley brilliant! Come back soon guys! Can't stop playing your new album Jim - Love it! |
Number 1 Jim Fan - 1-Apr-2005 18:42:24: Thanks Keith Keith, thanks, yeah that's the version I mean't. Good luck with finding the Blue Shoes album. |
Videoman - 1-Apr-2005 10:35:22: I Didn't Know Alan - if you mean the Phd version of I Didn't Know. then try this link http://eil.com/shop/moreinfo.asp?catalogid=127052
Keith |
Videoman - 1-Apr-2005 10:27:06: Thanks Again Thanx Alan and Mike for the assistance. Alan I will keep my eyes open for the "I didn't know" song. Keith |
Number 1 Jim Fan - 1-Apr-2005 06:12:34: Blue Shoes Keith, I only have the one copy, but I bought it at a concert of Jim's about 3, maybe 4 years ago now. As far as I know I don't think it is available in the shops. But I am sure that there must be some way of finding a copy. Maybe a back catalog somewhere? I am also trying to find a copy of a Jim song called "I Didn't Know" but I can't find it anywhere. But I am sure we will have some luck soon. Regards, Alan |
WebMaster - 31-Mar-2005 23:27:34: Vonnies Hi Videoman - I was at Vonnies last night too. Didn't realise you were there - perhaps we should wear cardboard signs around our necks or have a secret handshake. It was a much better atmosphere than at the Cheltenham Town Hall last year (150 odd people crammed into Vonnies made it way better than 40 doods rattling around in that huge room). Now I THINK Snake sent me a Shed CD when I took over the site ... if I can find it I'll let you know. Cheers,
Mike |
Videoman - 31-Mar-2005 20:43:32: The Blue Shoes ANy idea where I can get a copy of "The Blue Shoes - Live at the Shed" ? I have managed to track down a copy of "Sugarolly Days" But no luck with the other. |
Videoman - 31-Mar-2005 19:08:13: Thanks Alan - you're a life saver... many thanks |
Number 1 Jim Fan - 31-Mar-2005 14:54:45: Sugarolly Days My mistake - the second album is "Sugarolly Days" - got confused with the track from the album "Sugarolly Mountains" - but hope I was of some help anyways. |
Number 1 Jim Fan - 31-Mar-2005 14:53:33: The Road To Flodigarry Hi Videoman - the song you are talking of is called "The Road To Flodigarry", there are two versions I know of, the instrumental performed by Jim and Snake is on "The Blue Shoes - Live at the Shed" and the version with vocals is on Jim's album "Sugarolly Mountains". Hope I was of some help. Regards, Alan |
Videoman - 31-Mar-2005 13:11:09: Road To....... Sorry to be a pain, but one particularly evocative piece played at Vonnies by Snake and Jim was "The Road to ????" (Somewhere in Scotland) - what was the track name and which album can I find it on? Rgds Keith |
Videoman - 31-Mar-2005 01:22:36: Thank you What a massive night at Vonnies!! Thanks to you and Snake for a brilliant evening. And special thanks for the dedication to Jan.
If you ever want a gig similar to that one filming and put on DVD - give me a shout. Keith |
Videoman - 25-Mar-2005 19:12:33: Vonnies Got the tickets and really looking forward to the gig!! Hope you can manage the dedication. |
Videoman - 21-Mar-2005 21:55:46: Vonnies Hi Jim / Chrissie - trying desperately to get tickets for Vonnies on 30 March - but no answer on phone. Hope I can get hold of some. Hoping to take my wife, Jan, - she just loves "When You Turn" - would be great if Jim could dedicate it to her on the night. |
Alexis - 19-Mar-2005 05:51:12: OZ Thanx Chrissie, it would be so fantastic if Jim was to come to Australia. I'd be there with bells on!! I'll just have to keep my eyes and ears open and fingers crossed!! |
Number 1 Jim Fan - 18-Mar-2005 17:53:43: Thank You Hi Chrissie.I Hope you are well. Thanks for the message. I hope Jim is having a great time. Me and my wife are going to try and see him when he is at Pizza On The Park in August. Will be the first time she has seen Jim live.

Number 1 Jim Fan - 16-Mar-2005 17:11:07: Hi Jim Hello there. Alan Williams here. Just wanted to say hello to Jim and congratulate him on his fantastic new album! I haven't stopped playing it. I posted a message a little while ago but not sure if it got onto the page or not. Hope you remember me Jim, your number one fan. I am working on releasing an EP very soon. I am independent at the moment, and it is a very difficult task, but I am having help so I am praying that very soon it will happen! Wish you could hear the tracks Jim. Thanks for all of the inspiration you have given me for the last 20 years. You are and always have been my Hero.

Jim Diamond - 16-Mar-2005 14:12:28: Chrissie Alexis - Jim has no plans to come down under at present but we're working on it.
Robin - can't help but as far as we know there are no plans to re-release PHD |
robin - 14-Mar-2005 01:18:55: PhD Does anyone know of a source of the PhD's wonderful 1981 Album - preferably as CD? There's a few mp3s knocking 'around the place', but it would be nice to (a) get a decent copy & (b)see Jim get his royalties. Otherwise it's the time consuming restoration process. And a further question... not any chance of it being released again, only last time I restored an album they only went and released it the following year!
Good to see there's some new stuff out - I'll check that out... Thanks, Robin |
Alexis - 12-Mar-2005 05:36:03: FROM OZ Due to my dad's brilliant taste in music I have grown up listening to you Jim and for that I thank him!! My favourite song is Hi Ho Silver and I love nothing more than to crank it in my car on my way to work and sing along at the top of my lungs. Thank you for your great music, I'm a fan for life!! So when are you going to come down under??!! :) |

Videoman - 19-Feb-2005 14:00:23: Arrived at Last The album finally arrived and has been played almost constantly ever since. As metioned to Chris D in an earlier e-mail, 'When You Turn' has now been applied to a black and white slow motion wedding video montage (properly licensed of course)- the effect is amazing. Thanks for the track Jim!! |
WebMaster - 19-Feb-2005 11:45:10: MP3's I have posted up snippets from all tracks on the new Souled and Healed album, for those who haven't got it yet. Hope it keeps you goin' ... Cheers, Mike |
